HD-FX to DVD wide screen problem...

My video teacher at school is recording wide screen using squeeze with the Sony HD-FX cam. Using a DSR-25 he's outputting his recorded footage straight from tape to a panasonic DMR-T6070 Pro DVD-R recorder. When he goes to playback the DVD's it comes out squeeze on all 4:3 monitors, but when its played on a 16x9 monitor, it comes out widescreen. He wants to know how to get it to play widescreen, with blackbars on 4:3 monitors...

A) Is this possible?

B) What settings in cam and on the DVD recorder does he need to use in order for this to happen?

Well the footage needs to be processed. We have the same prob at work. When we record 16x9 it is in squeeze and if we go straight to DVD then it stays that way. What we have to do is take the footage into a NLE and turn it into anamorphic 16x9 and then burn it back out. The only other way that I am aware of to do this is an inline possessor. They call them aspectors. I know Miranda makes one and so dose Ross video but I know they are allot of money. Those are the only ways I know of if any one knows any other trick I'm up to try it.
