HD footage looks terrible when rendered to a DVD - why?

Hello

So i have an HD timeline in FCP.

I rendered it and brought it into DVD studio Pro.

The preview in dvdv sp looked fine but when i viewed it on a DVD it looked horrible.

Is there anything i can do to improve the quality in my configurations or preferences??

Any advice is welcome!

if you use the preset it will look like crap. you need to pick your compression manually . huge difference.
 
plus, it sounds stupid, but we're staring at HD for so many hours editing and whatnot, watching something on sd dvd looks like poo in comparison anyway.
