HD Files / Playback

I've been looking for a good file to convert my HD projects to that will run on any computer.
Yesterday I converted some movies to.
WindowsMedia HD 1080p Constrained VBR
WindowsMedia HD 720p Constrained VBR
They both look very clean and when I loaded the 720p version into my clients Deli laptop it played great.
Any other suggestions out there of other file types?

Michael,
I also use WMV also for showing to clients on different computers or laptops. In fact, I even used it for ingest in one cinema's servers since WMV HD also supports 5.1 audio.

Just make sure you use a high bitrate at CBR.

For screenings it is very good quality on average power computers. Up to now to be on the safe side I have burned screening dailies to DVD to be sure it will at least play on unknown systems. Nothing worse that a room full of clients waiting and the playback won't play. I only had the WMV 720p version that I ran on the clients laptop, and will be interested to see if the full 1080p version performs the same.

Well I just export mp4 from my editor (premiere pro) using adobes media encoder built in. For other conversions I use SUPER, which definitely can do mp4

I use CS4 Media Encoder and have converted to mp4 but didn't see a setting for x264. Usually I deliver a full uncompressed 32 bit export file after grading to my clients. In this case I really just need a sure way to show the HD quality for daily screenings on common laptops.
