HD Edit Delivered to a SD DVD

I shot with the HMC150 1080 30p. Edited in FCP as an HD timeline. Now I need to export to deliver on an SD DVD.

What are the best settings for the highest quality result?
 
I found exporting a full res native file out of Final Cut, then rendering out an SD version from After Effects gives me the best results. I tried down-converting with Compressor and didn't like the results. I also found that DVDs burned in Encore have a better image quality than DVD Studio Pro.
 
I use FCE and iDVD. I find that exporting a full resolution quicktime (without clicking the box to make it stand alone), then letting iDVD convert the movie into SD when it encodes the disk seems to work quite well. This reduces the transcoding steps which should improve the quality.

AVCCAM to AIC (edit in FCE and output as an AIC quicktime referencing the original files)
AIC to DVD

It's also quicker. Not sure if there is an equivalent workflow for FCS though?
