HD DSLR with wireless live video to tablet?

Are there any HD DSLR cameras yet that can transmit footage being captured, or the last shot footage, wirelessly to e.g. a tablet device? So that a director or cinematographer could instantly or right after a shot see the footage the camera person just shot, or is framing? I think Panasonic has a model that can do this, any other models? Any thoughts on if this will become common in 2013? Would be wonderful for indie directors / producers.

Many Canon DSLRs can do this - older models using the "wft" series of accessories, the new 6D without anything added. I first did this 3 years ago to show Danny Boyle my shots when we were shooting "127 Hours". I did this with a Windows convertible tablet, it also works on OSX - I'm not sure of the status of lesser OS support.

WFT accessories aside, it appears that with the Nikon 600D (using the separately available Wi-Fi adapter) and the Canon 6D's built-in Wi-Fi, you need to upload the captured footage to the web first, in order to let others review it. The GH3 also has built-in Wi-Fi, and you can see the live view of the camera and start recording video on a separate smartphone or tablet, but again, for reviewing clips, it appears that you have to upload to the Web first.

I hacked together an HDMI transmitter that transmits wirelessly to the directors monitor. Director can view as well as see playback from my camera. Cost me less than $300.

Yeah, I am looking for cameras like the Panasonic Lumix gh3 dslr where a director or DP could see what the camera operator is seeing. Maybe the GH3 can not even really do that once the camera operator hits the record button on the camera? Is the wifi live view of the camera only visible remotely on a tablet/smartphone live until the point that the camera operator hits record?

Canon DSLRs can wirelessly transmit video being recorded on the DSLR to another device (smartphone/tablet), live?

Yes. As stated I've only done this with a Windows tablet (Thinkpad X61t). It also works with OSX although that would be a normal laptop, not a tablet. I don't know if there is a compatible smartphone app, I do know there is a wired (usb) app for android but I am unfamiliar with it's wireless abilities.

For any Canon body other than a 6D, this requires use of a "WFT" wireless adapter. I've done it personally with the 1D4 and 7D with corresponding WFTs.

I feel like I am repeating myself here.

Apparently wireless is coming in the next version of DSLR Controller using one Android device to transmit to another: https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/9rSxJPPnqjE

I downloaded the Lumix WiFi connect App for My Nexus7 android but don't have a camera yet to try it on :)
So I can at least tell you that the GH3's wifi will support viewing an control on android, just not sure if there will be much image latency.
I just want to do it for framing and remote camera control. Should be nice...
More info here...

If you just want to show to your Director the footage captured or framing, I can vouched for this Paralinx Arrow product (http://www.paralinx.net/). It has almost zero latency and I have tested it. It goes as far as 82 meters on our unit even though it claims to go as far as 92 meters. Maybe our battery was not really at its full capacity at that time.

But if you want to have control of the camera at the same time, that CamRanger (http://www.camranger.com/) looks promising. Not sure about latency though.

I have tried the DSLR Controller (from Chainfire) as mentioned above and it works just fine. However, that is not wireless and I was not informed about the future of wireless from them. So, you gotta message them for confirmation.

I use the Nyrius unit. Get's you about 95 percent of what the Paralinx can do for just over $200. As long as you can output HDMI from your camera, you're gold. :)
