HD CRT Display

Hey ... I saw this on B&H and wondered whether this would be good for use in post-production of HVX footage.

Let me know what you think. I noticed that no monitors display 1080p (only 1080i). If 1080p works like 480p on the DVX, should I assume then that viewing 1080p footage through a monitor will have to go through a 3:2 pulldown to conform it to 1080i? Or can it be diplayed natively?

The Sony f900 24" CRT computer monitor is the best 1080P HD capable monitor for under $1K. Pick one up off e-bay. You'll need a Decklink or AJA converter from the computer but It will be color acurate and calibratable. This is what the guys at Final Touch use.

Yup, that's the one. About $500 on ebay. The only way to go IMHO. However I may get the Dell 24" LCD because it has SD inputs as well. I already have three monitors on my desk I'm not sure I can fit another Trinitron.

So if I was to use this Sony monitor for veiwing HD footage from the HVX through Final Cut Pro, what else hardware wise would I need? I assume some sort of HD card like the decklink? I have a dual 2.5 G5.

Thanks!

Could you use the DVI output to such a monitor (the Dell or Sony mentioned above) aswell? Then playback on it using digital cinema desktop?

Is anyone using this? Does FCP support one monitor for editing and one for full screen preview simutaneously? Also what is the quality like?
