HD Camera Suggestions?

I just upgraded to FCP2 and I'm planning on buying an HD camera for small side projects. I only have about $1500 to spend. Can anyone suggest a decent prosumer camera/camcorder for around that much? I've done some research, but there are SO many, it's difficult to choose. I'm not partial to any brands per se. But I'd like something user friendly with as many external controls as possible (i.e. focus ring, aperture, zoom if possible). Also, it obviously needs to be compatible with FCP2. Thanks for your help!
 
The only cameras compatible with FCP are the JVC HM100/HM700. Everything else has to be transcoded, so IMHO it does not really matter what you get. If you will be shooting in good light, then the HMC40, or the Sony FX7 or even a used V1 will serve you well.
