Hello group, I have a question of what's the best HD on camera monitor to buy, willing to spend up to $1000.00 and looking for 7" - 9". I've been researching and just don't know what to get, can anyone suggest a good one. I've got the hmc40. Thanks!!

Check out the IKAN monitors for good value in your price range. There are a number of threads on these and other monitors here on DVXUser (which a search should uncover), but these are the ones I am familiar with.

Depends on what you're needing to do with the monitor... If you're wanting to do on the fly color correction and needing that uber detail, buy the HD monitor... I'm in the process of buying an inexpensive dvd player combo for my kid that comes with an extra monitor with video inputs. I'm going to buy an external 9v battery pack and mount the 7" monitor to my rail support. As I'm doing Depth of Field video with a Letus35 rig on my HMC40, all I need is to see that I'm in focus, because the small screen is killing me. If you just need a larger monitor, build it yourself and invest the money you save on additional accessories or ehatever you might also be needing for your camera. BUT, if you do need the HD quality, then forget what I said and go HD... Simply put, buy what you NEED, in this economy, every dollar saved is precious.
