What's the difference? I understand that hd cam tapes are for high def taping, but can mini dv cameras record to hd cam tapes?

Basically, I want to be able to export from vegas to hd cam tapes and mini dv tapes. Really what I'm after is if vegas can export to hd cam tapes through my mini dv camera.

Are you talking about hdcam or the HDV tape? HDV tape are basically mini-DV tape that's been designed to prevent frame drop out when recording in HD. You can use regular mini-DV tape to record HD as well but you risk drop out.

Actually I was equating the two. Thanks for clarifying this for me though. I need to transfer to Hd Cam not HD mini dv. Since I can't afford anymore equipment atm I'll probably have someone do this for me. What's a typical going rate for this type of service?
