Yes it works. There is a bit of a thing when you're capturing though, apparently the JVC does some sort of mode-shift thing which can cause there to be dozens of one-frame blank clips created. But it doesn't really affect anything, it's just a housekeeping thing, you have to go in and delete the little spurious clips that get generated.
But yes, we used it all during the mini35 test, and I used it after the fact to capture the footage from tape.
