Hawkwoods Sony NPF power adaptor and Sony FS 700

I power my Sony FS 700 with an Hawkwoods Sony NPF power adaptor to D-Tap from my V-mount batteries. It worked perfect until today.
The adaptor gives 8,39V, camera powers up and shutdown again. To Little power to start up ?

But what's the problem, it did work ? Is there a problem with the camera ? Camera does work with Sony NP batteries.
Adaptor broken ?

Anyone an idea what's wrong ?

I have the same Hawkwoods adapter so I am curious to hear what is wrong with it

Are you attached to a battery plate or are you plugged directly into a dtap connection point on the battery itself?

if you are plugged into the Battery directly try a different battery

if you are plugged into the battery plate than try a different dtap connection on the battery plate and if that doesent work then try plugging directly into a dtap connection the battery itself

if your battery doesent have a direct dtap connection, not all do, or if your battery plate doesent have an alternative dtap connection point then try bringing into a local pro retailer

have you tried contacting Hawkwoods ?

Must be between 7.2v and 7.6 v !!! with more than that you can kill your camera !

The Hawkwood's fine. The voltage rating on the camera isn't that precise. I use it on a daily basis. It is, however not the most robust piece of kit. it's made of plastic and the cable bends back on itself. So it's probably just a connection. Things break!

When I use a loaded Sony NP-F770 batterie and measure it I get 8,38V.
That made no difference for the camera and won't kill my camera.

I have done both plugged in to a Hawk- Woods plate VL-CA4 and direct to a D-Tap on the batterie.
Tried on 4 different batteries and 3 different V-mount plates

I didn't contacted Hawk Woods or Sony because I don't understand who gives the problem, each devices works perfect
separately

You've established that the NEX is working OK, by powering up using a standard battery, you've ruled out a v-lock battery issue by trying different plates and batteries, so my guess would be the hawk woods. It may say 8.4 volts, but what really matters is how many amps it's delivering under load....

Solid state devices can be very tricky, especially the battery control circuits for Li-ion batteries. Some of them will show a full charge voltage that will drop to zero volts the minute you put a load on them. The Hawkwood may be doing the same, just guessing. You need to be able to measure the supply voltage with a load on it.
