Hawaiian Love Letter

Whenever I go on a trip and my wife can't join me, I like to put together a little video while I'm gone for her to see when I get back home. A sort of a video love letter to let her know that even though she can't be with me, I'm thinking of her.

So, my recent trip to Hawaii was no exception.

I couldn't come up with a song to use while I was out there until one day I was in line waiting to pay for some pineapple and I heard it.

So, I picked it up off of iTunes chopped it up and started editing during the down hours I was in Hawaii.

I finished it when I got the shots of the plane while waiting to catch my flight back home.

She's a California girl living in Iowa so she longs for the ocean. Whenever we get to the coast, we have to set aside at least a day for her to just sit on the beach and watch and listen to the waves.

So, I tried to put allot of water footage into it for her.

Now I know I held the first wave shot to long but like I said, it was for her so I wanted to let it play for a while to transport her to the ocean before I moved on.

So anyway, here it is. Hawaiian Love Letter

Great footage man. The TV in one of the timelapse shots was a little distracting, but I expecially liked the shot at the concrete where the wave swells and crashes right in the foreground, also the second-to-last shot where the plane took off like a comet in reverse. All of it looked fantastic (it's Hawaii; how can it not look good?), those two were just my personal favorites.

Kevin... so glad that you shared this with the community. Simply stunning looking stuff man. Your footage has made a lot of people adopt this camera and rightly so. I too love the high shutter shot of the wave.... really love the footprints in the sand... like the jumbotron shot... and the ending just wrap up so nicely. It's a collection of shots that show why this camera in the right hands produces pure gold....

Also not a bad way to keep in good with the wife and allow for trips to Hawaii and all that. The song fits so perfectly too... It seems like a christian piece... but either way, plays along side your images so perfectly...

I mean man.. that's a sweet timelapse of the sun over the horizon and the golden glow of that kid on the dock... incredible stuff!

A L O H A - Thanks for posting. Its always nice to see others shoot stuff of Hawaii because some times I take it for granted and it is good to look at it through new eyes. Nice stuff.

Wow! Your footage was incredible, great detail and great timing with all the sunset shots! The slo-motion tide breaks are incredible. Great deep colors, loved it!
