Hello everyone.. I own a DVX100a that I bought used, but for a decent price.. I have noticed a few flaws on my footage though.

In this picture the footage has some sort of lines. I capture my footage thru iMovie '08 because for some reason my Premiere doesn't capture my footage correctly. I've heard about de-intlerace may fix this problem, but that is how it looks on the tape itself. Just want to know what you guys think may be the problem, and if its a serious issue. It has only done this twice though.

Second problem is this

Above the S in the middle of the picture, there is some sort of corruption. In the audio it also has this like "velcro" noise. This has happened more then once, but USUALLY when it happens, its when I stop the record. I was told this may be solved by purchasing one of those miniDv head cleaner cassettes, but I wanted to see what you guys think.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to even read this. I appreciate any help I can get.

Hey man that first pic looks like 'venetian blinds' however you spell it, I got that when I tried out my DVX after I just bought it second hand. I gave it a clean with the head cleaning tape and I never got it again.

alright thats great news to hear. thanks for the advice Drunk On The Moon.

anyone else know anything about the second picture?

ah man, im definitely one of those people who get kind of scared to do something on my own, when it comes to ruining it. that sucks to hear that those tapes can ruin the camera head :/ .. but thanks for the advice aschu!

THe cleaning tape is FINE as long as you don't abuse it. If they damaged the heads that much they wouldn't exist. I highly recommend NOT cleaning the heads via DIY. Get them cleaned professionally if you really have to. Honestly man, give the head cleaning tape a go. It cleans for 5 seconds, hardly going to do anything bad.

The DIY method really isn't tough, you just need to educate yourself before you dive into the innards of your camera. Loads of people have successfully done it on this forum, myself included. I'd rather not risk using abrasive cleaning heads on an investment such as the DVX. Learning how to do it yourself is really a useful skill, but if you are afraid to try get it done professionally.

I will personally never put a cleaning tape in my camera..but that is just me.
