Having trouble with external audio input

Hi, This has happened to me 1 time out of 6 with the Sony EX1 camera. I have been filming lectures and the person in charge of audio usually gives me a external input to one of the audio channels (usually a mic input if I am being connected directly to a wireless mic or a line input if to a mixer I guess). This one time editor mentioned that she got no clean sound (I stand far away from the podium so the on-camera mic that I use does not get good audio but is there as a backup...). Does anyone know where I could have done wrong?

I *always* do a sound check with the audio person and I can tell in the headphones that I am wearing that I get a good sound level on the connection he supplies.

I make sure that the little switch is set at "line" or "mic" as the case may be.

I *always* have my headphones on during the recording so I can monitor the audio levels.

So why is there no audio on the channel supplied by the audio person???

Any input on this will be welcome!

Don't just listen look at your audio meters. You should be averaging around -20 with peaks between -20 and -10 for clean audio.

Sometimes I have had to choose "mic level" when getting audio from a mixer's aux output. Theorectically it should be line-level but it often isn't.

Make sure your headphone mix is both channels not just CH-1 or CH-2. And don't have your volume so high when you're monitoring.

If it was a wireless setup you have to watch the attenuation settings in not only the camera but in the wireless receiver as well. I assume it wasn't an issue with the microphone being phantom powered and the phantom power switch wasn't thrown. That can happen.
