Some time ago I asked for experience in regards to the Arri L7 series in comparison to the new DeSisti LED fresnels. To no avail unfortunately...
However, now I'm more interested in if anyone have tried out the Arri L7 series lights?
How are they to work with? Are they powerful enough? Are they way to expensive still, since it's more or less new territory?
If you haven't tried them... why not? What has kept you from trying them out?
The low wattage entices me, along with the low heat output. But when I calculate the light output, even at Iso 800, I end up with a f-stop of around 3.5 when the light is placed 2.5m from fx. a spread of light Grid Cloth with a diameter of 2m.
To me that says that these lights are meant for mostly tightly cropped shots?
But pros against cons here eh? I mean the versatility of the L7-C is very interesting... no need to filter around for daylight or tungsten, just turn the dial.
I know Guy Holt wrote a nice article about LEDs but Arri themselves place this at 95 cri.
Come guys... someone must have tried this lamp out?
