Have they stopped making the DVX?

I see that B&H has stopped listing the DVX. Any word from Panasonic about ending production of this cam?

don't know but I'm pretty sure they're gone.
why would thay be making the dvx when they've got the gh2

The DVX100B is still listed on the Panny website, but it has dropped off the catalogue ay BH. It seems to be going out quietly after revolutionizing video. I miss mine yet for its quality and ease of use.

Now that the new cams coming out this fall also record DV codec, I would not be suprised to see them finally drop the DVX line. The tape mech is half the price if the camera and the price diff from DVX100B to say an HMC150 (does not record SD though) isn't that much.

Just got the official word -- NO, the DVX is *not* cancelled. It is still an active and current model in Panasonic's lineup.

Trust me, if the DVX ever does get cancelled, you'll hear about it here. We'll probably have quite a wake for it.

But right now, it is still alive and kicking and still selling. B&H will have to sort out whatever the problem is with their website, because the DVX is still active.

That's good to hear. I'm more than satisfied with the results I get from my DVC80 and DVX in this world of HD and media cards and really like physically using these cams, but mine are racking up some serious hours and I would like to get another DVX. B&H is the only outfit I've used in years but if they are no longer going to stock the cams I'll look around elsewhere.

We have many excellent dealers here who sponsor DVXUser. Look at dealers like Spec-Comm or Abel Cine or Texas Media Systems. There are lots of great dealers out there.

Full compass is a sponsor as well. If you phone or email you will usually get a better price than whats on there website.

Couldn't find the DVX on Abel's site. Spec-Comm has them for $2800. B&H posted a used 100b with 55 hours so I grabbed it. Maybe when I wear that one out I'll be ready for HD.

In April, I also saw B&H had it listed "Discontinued" and soon after—that "Discontinued" label was removed

Don't know what's wrong with B&H or why they would do that. B&H doesn't get to discontinue it. If it ever gets discontinued, that'd be by Panasonic, not B&H. And as far as Panasonic is concerned, they're still making and selling them.

Could be they meant discontinued from there catalog (BH's) thus the removal of the label. Could be it's not a hot seller for them any more.

I see today that B&H has relisted the 100B for $2195. That's $500 less than they were selling them for two weeks ago when they said they were discontinued.
