Haunted House

Wish I were banned.
So, for Halloween I'm helping a friend of mine make a haunted house. I'm looking suggestions of any kind. Anything that's particularly terrifying psychologically?

For part of it, I'm looking for "happy" music that will mess with their minds -- sort of in the same way that children laughing can be really scary. Any ideas for this?

For one part, I'm going to set up a really strong light pointing into some thick fog. The people will have to walk from the light side of the fog into the darkness on the other side, and while their eyes are adjusting we scare them.

Just have the Como stand in an empty room. That will be plenty scary. In fact, you may need a disclaimer in case people have heart attacks from the fear. :D

Purchase dolls from the dollar store.

Remove limbs.

Dangle limbs from ceiling.

Dip limbs in fake blood.

Sounds sweet.

Can anybody think of a song that's so happy that it's scary? Aren't there a few films that use this technique?

It depends partly on wether you'll have an age limit on who can enter. Is it for everyone including little kids or teens and up? If kids were involved you wouldn't want to over do it to the point they'll have nightmares.

I'd listen but I'm going to bed soon. No need for the nightmares. kids singing it would be creepier and the sfx even more so. I think its a must!

"I Don't Want to Set the World On Fire." It's running on a video game commercial right now, but there's an even creepier take. Ralph Shaw covered it on his "King of the Ukulele" album. Check it on iTunes.

Even better... "My Blue Heaven" from the same album.

"Just Molly and me... and baby makes three..."

chainsaw.

Yep, the sound is scary. Add a hockey mask and you've got Jason.

TAKE THE CHAIN OFF!!!!

Once the chain is off, you can put the bar on people, they don't know it's harmless.

Also, stick a floor fan at head level just inside a doorway. darken the room and have some loud sound FX. the moving air is unsettling because they don't know the source.

Then have another room, darknen it too, make everyone stand in the middle of the room. Have some of your spooks hide in the closet and slowly walk out and touch them on their skin, not clothing. Freaks people out. It works better if your spooks have soaked their fingers in ice water.

Take a piece of plywood, cut out a hole in the center, throw a sheet over it. Have someone sit under the table and extend their head through the hole. Then put a weber bbq cover over the person's head. Head for dinner.
