Hello! Long time lurker and amateur videographer. I often find stuff on this forum way over my head but come back to it when I am making mistakes. Like not setting my video settings to Natural -5,-5,1,-5 or using the 50mbps mode as I was using more of the 71 all intra.

More of a "home movie" type of video but would love any criticisms or suggestions to improve on. The camera did great BTW exposed, clipped on my harness all the way up to 18,510' with 40mph gusty winds and a temp of -20.

Some time lapses and tilt shift effects too.

This is very fun stuff! What lens did you use? You did a great job for going so light. You can't exactly run around with a Glidecam while climbing! What did you use to mount the camera to your harness? Did you have any issues with the temps... As in did the screen become unuseable/unresponsive or your lens start to clamp up? Well done.

Thanks! I'm really an amateur and a surgeon by trade. Just trying to make some videos for memories that aren't just the typical "family video" that I would never want to watch again.

I used my Pany 12-35 2.8 for the climb. And a Pany 7-14 4.0 for the time lapse and tilt shift. I did the tilt shift with the "miniature" setting in the cam and used an external trigger with my iphone to take the shots. As you know you can't use any of the creative settings with the internal timelapse function so using an external trigger works without needing to carry my lensbaby lens for tiltshift effects.

For climbing I use this:

I have their whole system and ordered their new V2 clip. Works great as it lets me climb but still have access to the camera. I also use there "leash" to hold the camera to my pack incase I unclip it and it slips from my hand, the leash will catch it and keep it from hitting the ground.

The camera did GREAT. It was exposed from 3am to 3pm when we got back to base camp. No foggy, no battery freezing. I didn't use the touch screen as my hands were frozen every time I took them out of my gloves...so I was just happy that I could push the record button most of the time. But the camera seemed to focus perfectly and function totally normally. The only thing I didn't play with was the touch screen.

also, could I have done better on the color? I think the problem was it was so bright with a fast lens that things were getting washed out?

I really didn't like how the color turn out.

that was a lot of vodka lol

LOL Russians love vodka. Our Russian guide tried to explain how they drink Vodka in Russia and basically stated that they like mixing it with Coca Cola. You do a "two finger" pour for the vodka, the rest for the Coke.

As the night wore on...it became a five finger pour. LOL
