Has anyone used this cheap ebay bought shoulder mount for the DSLR?

yes, and there are a few threads in this forum about it...

in summary: poor build quality but good enough in most situations; it will get you much steadier shots than just going handheld, as long as you don't want to move your feet while recording and can control your breathing; it's certainly sub-par, but super-cheap, and also light; I like mine

Mine broke with a 7d and 24-70 lens on it. Threw the piece of rubbish out. Based on my experience, I wouldn't advise using it hands-free.

For the price, it's great - and more importantly folds very compact - fits in a suitcase or backpack. I threw away the ball-head mount on top and replaced it with a better one for another $30. I use it one-handed, not hands free - haven't managed to break it so far.

those things with the torso arm kinda confuse me...

what happens to the image when youre breathing?

i have one of these:

its remarkably effective balance wise considering its simplicity. the only problem i had with it using my hpx170 was that it puts the screen closer than my far sighted eyes will allow me to see...

im going to try it with a 5D in the next week or so...
