Sorry peeps, I don't spend as much time on DVXuser since I became a mod over atEvent Filmmaker a couple of years ago.
The cards arrived a week ago but I've been away on interstate filming assignments and haven't had access to them, so I'm hanging to get back home and try these out as much as you guys are waiting to hear from me. I'll be returning later next week for the Xmas break; give me a couple of days after that so I can do some tests and I'll let you know how they work out
Cheers,
Ev
PS: Coincidentally, having recently moved to Sony after years with Canon & Panasonic cameras, I'm so impressed with the EX1 that I'm now seriously considering buying another one. Let everyone have their quirky HDSLRs; for event coverage I gladly sacrifice a little bokeh & light sensitivity for the ruggedness & reliability of these EX series cams
I spent a few hours in the studio putting these cards through their paces. Shot only in 720 50P over-crank mode, made continual slot changes while filming and there were no hiccups. I've been too busy with photography assignments and haven't had the chance to actually shoot any full day live events so don't take my tests as exhaustive, however, based on my in-house testing I say the cards are behaving like real SxS cards.
I've had these SanDisk cards now for a few months and they haven't missed a beat (everything I shoot is at 720 50P 35mb XDCAM.) Oh, I've also been using the latest e-Films model MxR SxS adaptors with Sandisk 16GB class 4 SDHC cards, again shooting in 720 50P and have had no issues with these either
Yeah I wish I had gotten a couple of those. I put the link aside as it listed hundreds in stock, but they didn't really have that many and when I went there later they were gone. However, I went to the B&H used dept and found an 8 gig Sony SxS for 150.00. Saved my butt for shooting a 2 cam 2 hr show I didn't have quite enough media for.
