Has anyone tried green screen with the AF100 yet?

Hi, I love LOVE the AF100, but I'm needing a camera that i can use for extensive green screen work as well.

However, the AF100's color sampling is 4:2:0 - is this going to work for green screen?

Has anyone tried doing green screen with their AF100 yet?

I have and there are also some great tests shown in the Screen Grab sub section of this forum.

Keying is absolutely fine.

Very difficult to distinguish the AVCCAM Pro Res key (Keylight, AE) from the KiPro Pro Res (Keylight, AE) to me.

Thanks for being kind and helping me out ;-) it was great to see the actual examples of green screen with the a f100!

I will probably be using an external recorder to record the hdsdi output. Do you think i would be able to get a better key or color sampling that way?

I would test it with the SD cards first before investing in another device.

I am satisfied with the SD cards.

Thanks Shooter! I loved the screen grabs of your work! The key came out great!

Just curious... what did you use for lighting?

Easiest lighting there is.

3/4 back / top lighting with a 4' x 4' diff frame ( 2k Blonde) and a rim back light (600 watt arri fresnel). No fill because frame wraps the light as you wish by angle and proximity to subject

Quick and dirty ( but effective)

That key was done quick and rough because I wasnt actually planning it. Look closely and it is a bit flawed. It did enough show me the potential of the Codec to be keyed though.

You guys are so helpful! THANK YOU!

One more question :-)

Which lens would you recommend for green screen work?

Shooter, do you have any tips for me about how I should be choosing lenses for my bg?

I'm pretty new at this whole "interchangeable lens" thing. There are so many lenses to choose from...

I've done some green screen for a TV spot with the AF100 and I will say it keyed better than the HVX200. Much less noise. The key looked great.

The lens choice comes down to what you are shooting and the size of the area you have to shoot in. If you are in a controlled lighting area like a green screen studio, I would go with the 17-40 as a good general purpose lens. You really are not going to need super shallow DOF shots in a green-screen situation and you are going to have lighting, so the lens speed is not really an issue.

Better than the HVX200?! WOW! How so? Did you like the final look better, or was it just easier to key when editing?

I'd love to see some of your screen grabs too :-)
