Has anyone experiance with Atomos 'NINJA' ?

Hey People am about to purchase a AF100 in the comming month, but I would like to buy a recorder with it to capture 4.2.2 Apple Pro res HQ. Does anyone have some experiance with the ATOMOS 'Ninja' or I might wait for the Samurai Apple ProRes HQ 10 bit recorder. It seems like a easy device to handle and record. http://atomos.com

Hi Jeff , the camera ' codec 'is 4.2.0 but the meaning is bypassing with the ninja to 4.2.2 apple pro resHQ trough the HDMI
 
Aw, just notished a downside , i'ts only 8 bit output instead of 10 bit, shame you Panasonic, grrr
That means there is no use in buying the ''Samurai ' but rather the ' Ninja ' witch saves me some bucks anyway .
 
Hey Katty,

There are no camera's in this price category with a 10 bit export from HDMI. If you need the 10bit, you will have to fork up a little more money.

The camera output through HDMI or HD-SDI is 4:2:2, not 4:2:0.

I would advise anyone looking at an external recorder to consider an SDI recorder instead of HDMI. The Samurai, Nano and Ki Pro Mini all support SDI input.

Thanks for the advise Barry, I think I will preorder the samurai.
 
Yes, sitting here hanging out for Samurai with SSD. Fairly well IMO SSD is going to be around for awhile and only get cheaper.
