harry potter 4

i love the books, but the first three movies i didn't really like. but goblet of fire, being darker and more evil as the movies have been getting, and getting to see the tournament on screen, looks like this movie is gonna be pretty cool. i just hope they did a better job getting a book length story across on film better than the last 3 movies did.

I like the books, I really hate the movies. I remember I nearly fall asleep, but a loud sounk effect woke me up... :(

I don't know... At first I hated them... But as I'm getting older [now being 19 :) ] I like them more and more... hell! I even bought all movies with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! And Hillary Duff... I don't know what drives me towards this kind of cinema but I will certainly fit as a director in Disney studios... :) I just like this easy and naive stories... They make me happy...

//Just realize this post doesn't make me look good :)

Is this the one where Snape Kills Dumbledor? I dunno - Harry Potter is a ciggarette. Here in the UK we call a ciggarette a fag. Just thought i'd share that with you.

ROFL 500 mil?? Noone in their right mind would hand out that money on a movie production. Noone. The most expensive films to date are Titanic and Spiderman 2 with budgets of 200 mil each. LOTR you mentioned was about 300 mil for all 3 parts. No producer or studio is going to triple the highest budget just like that, we'll probably never even see 300 mil flicks, because it's too risky. This one cost ~130-150 mil just like 3 previous Harry Potter movies...

Not to mention that, even though HP movies are getting better with each new installment, they're also making considerably less money each new time - 975mil > 849 > 761. Following the trend GoF should be around 650mil worldwide unless a miracle happens. To make 500 mil budget back it'd have to make over a billion in theaters...

There you go:

Production Budget: $130 million according to www.boxofficemojo.com

Budget $130,000,000 (estimated) - www.imdb.com

Last I heard "War of the Worlds" was the biggest budget film. 300Million

I've got a question. :) Here you can download the new international trialer for HP4. There ist this great music in the background. Do any of you happen to know who's the author of this amazing piece?

//AAAAHH! Everytime I watch it I get goosebumps :)

I would assume its John Williams as his music has been in all the HP trailers I believe. Check out iTunes to hear samples from the soundtrack you might recognize it.

Can't wait to see this one in IMAX on the 18th at 1pm!!!

i think king kong has the most expensive budget all time now....207 mil. According to kongisking.net anywho.

thought I would bump this thead for now....I'm seeing it later to day...I can not wait to see it. Anyone else see it already?

Both my daughters (16 & 17) saw the film at the midnight playing last evening. They both felt that this was by far the best of the four films. My youngest (film/TV/commercial actress) still feels that the three main characters are a bit wooden in their performances, but she felt that the direction (Mike Newell) was clearly better than the previous three films. Both daughters commented on the cinematography (Roger Pratt), describing it as an absolutely beautiful film.

There were apparently a few departures from the book, but nothing too glaring to enrage a pair of rabid fans.

Myself, if I am going to see this in a theater (as opposed to awaiting the DVD release or my daughter's screener copy) I will wait until all the pre & teen fans have had their fill before braving the crowds.

I have tickets to see it with friends tonight. As I have admitted to ridicule and support from this board, I am a fan of the books and just have this thing about seeing the movies in the theatre at least once. Unlike most people, I wasn't a huge fan of the darker look of the most recent film and have a feeling that this will be more of the same. I really loved the childlike qualities in the first two, so this will be interesting. I will be sure to post a review after the film tonight, but I'm no hudson, so nothing that impressive.

I'll try to check it out this weekend. I'll admit it... I'm a fan, and that's saying something because I tend to hate everything.

I'm going tonight as well. This will be the first time that my wife and I have gone out without the kids since ... well, since the kids.
