Hardware for AVID and DVCproHD

Anyone have any hardware recommendations for AVID editing of DVCproHD? Lets say for a feature film which has about 20 hours of footage for a 2 hour edit. What hard drive setup and system should be used?

The good thing is that DVCProHD consume's less bandwidth than 10bit uncompressed SD so you can use firewire 800 drives. Having said that you will need to do the math to figure out how much storage you need. Also, you need a 64bit PCI slot (on Mac or PC). Check out the G-Raid Pro at http://www.g-technology.com - I think 1TB of raid 3 with the performance you need for about $2K. If you don't think you need raid protection look at the G-Raid, 1TB is under $1K and supports up to 3 DVCProHD streams.

I have 1TB (four removable ATA drives) in a firewire 800 enclosure, when it works it is really cool/cost effective. Unfortunately firewire has to boot up in a specifiv order so half the time I can't see all four drives at the same time. So I'm checking the G-Tech drives.

I hope this helps
