Hardware errors using Avid Xpress

I feel like fresh meat starting a new thread, however, I didn't seeing any Avid posts matching this question...and frustration is settling in. So, here goes:

I am getting "CPU Overload" and "DMPort" errors while using Avid Xpress. After monitoring my system's performance, I noticed the CPU's performance only reached 50-60% when the prompt appeared. Could anyone shed light on this dark subject?

System:
HP XW8200
Inter P4 3400mhz processor
WinXP SP2
471gb HDD space
other bells and whistles

Avid Xpress Pro v4.6

An HP XW8200 with Pentium 4 processor? You mean Xeon right?
Seems to be a problem with version 4.6, upgrade Avid Xpress Pro a step.

Thanks

Thanks

Sorry for the delay...I'm REALLY lovin' editing on this AVID.

Yep, you're right...it's a Xeon. As much time as I have spent at that PC I should know how many screws are in it. I will try to get my boss to get that upgrade.

I am planning on buying a HP XW8200, do you have problems with that machine?

HPXW8200 is not bad

HPXW8200 is not bad

The HP XW8200 I edit on at work is not bad. The third computer I personally owned was an HP and it sucked. I think I had that PC for 4-6 months before I just decided to build my own.

My boss designed the HP workstation at my job with a dual-monitor display and dual DVD burners, which is cool. The downside about the XW8200 is that it doesn't have an 11-In-1 media card reader or the like, but anyone can get those for $50 or so. Overall, our XW8200 has been reliable. I'm pleasantly shocked.

Personally, I would look at computers that feature SATA drives, but that's just me.

I'm using the xw8200 with Avid Media Composer Adrenaline and have found to to be fairly stable when running MCA, and REAL stable when running photoshop, After Effects and the Avid suite of products.

Seems like a good machine to me.

Well, the XW8200 has the option of configuring with SATA drives,
maybe I go for SCSI.

Nice to hear that it works well with Adobe programs etc. I use that too.
