Hard drives for editing

What HD will suffice for 720p or 1080i editing off the HVX with FCP ? Please dont answer the Xraid drives from Apple, as there must be a cheaper solution than a raid rack that costs more than the camera.

I already have a decklink HD card, and a Lacie firewire bigger disk.

Running the BlackMagic disk speed test on my Lacie, I am getting 76 MB/s read, 50.6 write, so I guess that should be ok according to that chart?

Also, if I daisy chain another Lacie to it, can they be raided together for higher speeds ?

Pretty much any. You'd be better off with 7200, but you certainly don't need a RAID or anything like that! Any external firewire hard disk, or even the internal drive on a laptop, can handle the data stream and provide full-screen, full-res, full-frame-rate realtime playback.
