Handle Zoom Lock?

I just bought a DVX from EVS, Which I am finding out is extremely popular on this website, and I have had my camera for a week. I have been working like a mad man to finish editing this project I have for this deadline, so all I used the camera for was logging and capturing. I go outside yesterday and test out my camera and the #2 speed on the handle zoom doesnt work. Is my camera defected? Is this a common problem?
 
i thought the exact same thing when i first got mine!
page 43 of the operating instructions manual and under SW MODE you will see it listed...

it defaults at:
L / OFF / H [low off high]

and you can then change it to:
L / M / H [low mid high]
