Heres the scene:
Documentary and or Corporate mix of interviews and B roll. Data integrity needs to be rock solid.
Small case contains laptop, two firewire drives, and P2 reader.
Interviews fed directly into a laptop with two external firewire drives attached.
Drive one Client
Drive two BackUp
All interviews fed to laptop, and placed onto the two firewire drives at the same time. (Is this possible?)
Interview ends.
B roll shot on the P2 card and periodically fed into the laptop, placed onto the hard drives throughout the day.
Client goes out the door with his hard drive.
Client either owns the hard drive, or agrees to return it to the shooters hard drive "farm" within a set period.
One hard drive kept by the shooter until client confirms data integrety.
Is this a workable set up? Will transfer times from the P2 reader take too much time? Who is going to monitor this whole process, it seems like you might need another crew member to oversee the process.
If so the cost of this extra person might defeat the cost advantage of using P2.
