Halogen Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just finished shooting a commercial in a video store that has overhead halogens (yeah, like in your gym class). Dialog is nice and clear, but there is a low hum on the audio track. Editor is going to work on FCP and Pro Tools I think. Is there a way to remove this low hum using these two programs. :dankk2: you in advance.

Was the camera plugged in or battery-powered? It might not be the lights at all, but AC hum. Either way, it's pretty trivial to take it out in any sound editor with a Noise Reduction plug-in. If you can find a second or two of sound on the tape with no talking or other noise, just the hum, it can use that as a fingerprint and remove the noise from the whole thing.

definately the lights. You could hear them by naked ear. we took thirty seconds or so of room tone, so I guess that should serve as a fingerprint. Thanks for the responses so far and any future ideas.

Good for you... as long as you have that, you can fairly easily take it out. I use soundsoap, it works GREAT for this, and it's as easy as one button the press, but there's many programs that's do it.
