Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen Cover (Music Video)

Hey, GH1 users! I've come to this forum for months now, reading threads and posts, but today I actually joined the conversation by registering! I've had my GH1 for almost a year now and have done a few local video jobs, as well as a handful of portrait sessions. Today I posted a music video on YouTube that I recorded and produced, and I want to share it with the dvxuser community as well! Hope you enjoy it!

well done!

well done!

Very nice job. Fantastic voices, OMG. Looks really good. Nice editing. Some really cool shots, too.

I absolutely loved this video. I'm interested in how you captured the audio.
Did the performers mime for the video shoot?
Once again ... well done!!!

Richard

wow. spellbinding. not sure what's better the video or the quality of the singing/voices. the lord is strong with this video hallelujah!
amazing sound quality, video quality, every damn quality.

what's up with those pitch black candle shots though? now i KNOW that wasn't shot with no gh1. come on give it up, did you sneak a 7d on there or what? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Wow, thanks guys! I'm sorry for not responding to each of your questions/comments... I thought that they would've shown up in my email! Anyway...

@ Richtiger Yes, I recorded the audio separately... Since my personal studio includes music recording as well as video recording, I'm set up to track audio in Logic Pro. The project actually started being music-only, but after recording the song and being blown away by the talent and the performance as a whole, I couldn't resist pitching the idea for an accompanying music video! I filmed the next day as the ladies mimed the words, as I recorded multiple takes and angles. In the edit room, I mixed all up and made it look as pretty as I possibly could!

@ Homunculus We are definitely proud of how the video & music came out in the end... and the response has been pretty overwhelming! As far as the candle shots, I promise you that they were shot with my GH1! Of course, I used a fast prime lens for all the shots (Nikon 35mm f/1.8) and kept the ISO as low as I possibly could! I love my little GH1 and people that have seen the video are amazed when I show them the camera that made it happen! That's the beauty of what we do: maximize the tools in our hands to make beautiful artwork that inspires and touches people.

@ pjsssss Glad you loved it! I'm desperately trying to get it available on iTunes (at least the music... we'll see about the video!). Any direction and information that anyone has about this process is definitely welcome!

Cheers!

Good stuff overall.

Personally I hate seeing that fake film effect on footage (the stuff in the play park.) It always look amateurish to me... but possibly that is just a personal thing?

Some of the fast cuts in the closing statements didn't quite work for me either - but I am no expert - just a personal opinion.
