Haiti Video

Wow how cool was that! I play your video...and I see a familiar face. Father Marc. It has been a year or two since I have been back to Pwoje Espwa, (I have done a video for Cross International, the ministry who funded construction for the farm). It was so great to see the children starting to live on the farm instead of the city. They got way too crowded in Les Cayes. The children are growing up fast. Thanks Robotjustin that was a treat.
As far as the video goes, the stills were beautiful, you got a lot of nice b-roll of the staff and children. I would have talked about the plight of these children a little more in the front of this show. I shot a specific story around Jean-Pierre, a boy abandoned by his family and forced to live on the streets at the age of eight, and how Father Marc took him in, clothed and feed him, and finished the story with him at the farm. Father Marc looked to blown out to see sometimes...but all in all it tells the story. Good Job.

Hey Rygh

Wow! What's the odds of that?

1. I've got to finish the color correction. Father Marc looks great on TV, but in quicktime looks like a radioactive saint. Will fix.

2. The kids are awesome. At one point, I had to thumb wrestle every kid at the orphanage.

3. We spoke a lot about how to go about telling the story, and decided to leave the tragedy that is Haiti in the background, and focus more on the progress that is Espwa. Was a tough call, and maybe we made the wrong decision, but I'll be going back soon, so next video can be more depressing if need be.

4. Would love to see the cross international video! Are you still working with them?
PM me if you get the chance.

I always like to keep myself available with Cross International whenever they need some help. Just spoke to one of the directors yesterday. He is needing some help in getting the video cut up in segments and put on their website and podcast. So I guess I will be doing something for them soon again. I noticed on your video you had a shot of Jean-Pierre. He was the one with the silver sunglasses on. When I get something up, I will show you...if I remember, my memory hasn't been good lately.
