Here's my regrade - learning how to color better - getting more natural skin tones and creating a look.
Shot on F35 with red zoom 18-50 and 50-150 lens

Let me know your thoughts guys.

Wow!!!! Im loving this new grade....I have a few questions...would you mind sharing your workflow in terms of grading mainly your base LUT? (I just got my F35 so I'm hunting down the best base LUT's to use with the footage) then are you denoising or adding sharpening in post? and last, I really love the shot @ 00:20...would you happen to remember around what focal length you were shooting at? sorry I know thats a weird question considering you were using zooms lol just thought I'd ask in case you remember roughly. Again great footage...love the grading and composition as well.

sure I bring into Resolve - put on film convert - use the fujifilm lut as a base - then from there I play with the s curve even more or less and go from there. I just try to get skin tone on the flesh line in the vectorscope. I have put power windows on the faces - some more than others. I didn't really put too many power windows overall on exposure but I should have - if I learn more and have more time.

That shot at 20 sec - the steadicam shotinto the girl at the reception? I have no idea what focal length, maybe 24mm?

Filmconvert is my favorite LUT system - but that's just me - I use it as a starting point.

Also I am enjoying using neatvideo to sharpen footage - I was using the sharpening tool in resolve but that's for different types of sharpening. Also neatvideo is great at removing video noise - especially from the f35 if you want a super clean image which I think is a good option especially nowadays when all cameras are pretty clean thanks to CMOS sensors.

Thanks eddavid for sharing all the info

First I need to say it's above average work overall, seriously. I know doc work fairly well, esp. lately, and it's very tough to get a decent composition without any planning, and on the fly. Using the F35 was a great idea too and helps set the images apart even more from the masses.

I feel like this grade is a little over the top. I understand where you were going with it but I think it may be a little distracting. A little more color and a little less crushing would be my personal take, for starters.

I would Vince but my mom loves the new grade. She loves the deep black color and the distracting nature of the look.

I love it too Ed and my mon also say is great look and ask if that young man Kubrick shot it. She was surprised when I say that fine director is now in heaven.
