hacked GH1 vs hacked GF1

ive been planning to buy a GH1 in the near future, but since the GF1 has been hacked and can now do 1080p, im wondering if perhaps I should get the GF1 instead?

what are the differences between the two? and what will I be loosing out on if I choose the GF1 instead of the GH1?

is it just the EVF?
follow focus?

Yes, please, could an experienced guy summarize this?

I'm in the same boat being under $1K and choosing between GH1 body or GF1 kit. To be more specific:

1. Is hacked 1920 footage on GF1 true 1920 or upscaled 720?
2. What are the time limits for different formats. I've read that GF13 only records around 2GB. Is it true for stock modes as well? For what modes on GH13 does this limit apply?
3. Is there any difference in measured resolution and low light performance between these two models?

We need some methodical testing. In theory, there could possibly be advantages to the GF1 sensor being slightly lower-resolution than the GH1, thus requiring less scaling to get to video resolution.

Additionally there are lens considerations. The GF1 video area is slightly smaller, making for better use of c-mount lenses. Alternatively, the GH1 will make better use of M-mount and other 35mm-format lenses.

you loose full manual control for one and i think 1080 is just upscaled 720 not true 1080, correct me if i am wrong.

I would still get a gf1 for pure travel and size but if i was to shoot something serious i would go back to my gh1.

I'm very surprised that nobody with both cameras has actually responded yet. I am also curious to know how much better a GH1 is to the GF1

1. Currently the GF1 1080 footage is upscaled 720 as far as we know. Is it possible to do "true" 1080? I think Vitaliy might be looking into that.

2. Time limit is confined to the FAT file system. So it's 2gb not because of a camera limitation (AFAIK), but limited by the file system of the card. It also is possible that you can be limited due to the speed of your card. If you card is not fast enough it will have problems continually recording at high bitrates for extended periods of time.

3. From what is gathered from reviews - low light performance is better on the GH1. Is there a way to measure that? I don't know.

Of course, you do lose all the nice manual video controls on the GF1 - but I hope that is being looked into right now as well.

The 2gb limit is only in MJPEG mode. AVCHD has no limitations on recording times (except the size of your card).

Is it true for both GH1 and hacked GF1? Will I be able to use GF13 as a B or C camera for a couple of hours long concert in AVCHD mode for non-stop recording?

I meant that perhaps someone who has both cameras did an A-B low light test. That would be nice to see.
