Hacked GF1 - manual control of exposure in Video mode

lpowell, How does the encoder decide which frame to drop ? Is it a "difference" function that drops frames if there is no movement ? Or does it always drop the 6th frame. ?

Yes, you can shoot in MJPEG at 25p and yes, you will get choppy motion out of it. Unfortunately, the MJPEG encoder appears to be hard-wired with a 30p frame rate, regardless of NTSC or PAL mode. When you patch the MJPEG encoder with a lower frame rate, it simply drops frames as needed from the 30p video stream, producing an uneven frame rate. Here's a link to a video test I did that demonstrated what's actually happening:

I will try your firmware of course. But I just needed a simple answer. Are you able to shoot 1080p25 in MJPEG ?
No, I currently can't. Because I didn't change the values for size of MJpeg settings, only bitrate and quality, downsampling.

Judging from the regular pattern of dropped frames, I suspect the MJPEG encoder uses the patched frame rate as a stopwatch. So if you patch in 24fps, each time the 24fps stopwatch ticks, the encoder simply records whatever frame is currently available from the hard-wired 30p video stream.

Poor PAL users. :-( Always with the wrong end of the stick..
Does the GH1 do 1080p/25P MJPEG properly now ?

It's not a PAL issue, since MJPEG won't produce correctly timed 24p either. The MJPEG encoder only works properly at 30p.
