GH1 Hackable?

Hi

I'm totally new to the idea of hacking my GH1. I'm sure everyone asks this question, and I've tried to follow threads that might give me an answer, but only get more confused! So please forgive this repeat question. My GH1 was made in January 2010. I bought it just about a year ago from Amazon. It just went out of warranty. I updated the version about a month ago, so it now says version 1.3.
Questions:
1. Is it still hackable, or did Panasonic make it impossible to hack an update as recent as a month or two ago??

2. I just bought a slightly used GH2, assuming it would be a better option both for still and video. So far, love it. Thinking I'll sell the GH1, probably as "hackable" (if it is). Don't dare do it myself.

Thanks for any help/advise.

You can tell if the body is hackable by looking at the serial number on the bottom of the camera. Hackable bodies start with 9K, I think, don't quote me. When I get home I will check mine to see.

I haven't heard of firmware upgrades disabling the hackability of the cameras.

While browsing the forum I also found a thread where vitaliy hinted that he was working on a hack for the unhackable bodies, so it maybe worth holding on to even if it is unhackable.

Thanks! I have the right serial number, I'm quite sure. Just the version update I'm unsure of. I will hang on to it until I know what's what!

Appreciate this info.

If you updated the software you are in trouble. Kidding. The only version you can update from Panasonic's site is 1.32. They never released the 1.34 version (the unhackable) to the public. 100% you have 1.32 or lower, which is hackable.
1. put a battery and a card in the camera and make sure you have single shot selected (dial closer to shutter button)
2. with the camera off hold down DISPLAY and FILM MODE (thumb and pointer right hand)
3. holding down the above buttons turn the camera ON
4. with your left thumb hold down MENU and the buton on the left side of menu, the one you choose the focus point (both same time)
5. now press FILM MODE three times.
that should get you to a screen that gives you the third digit of the software version, among other things like shutter count.

to go back to normal turn it off and then on.

Thank you, Youry! That is just what I was looking for. I'll try it when I get home. Does this same procedure also work for the GH2, if I want to find out what version it has? (I don't think the versions have changed with these cameras yet...just curious.) Looks like this is the place to learn a lot of interesting stuff!

Appreciate your clear instructions.

The version on GH2 is 1.0
It is my understanding that GH2 becomes hackable if Panasonic releases a downloadable upgrade to the public. That's why they never realeased GH1's version 1.34, otherwise all GH1's would be hackable, and that's why I'm sure your version is not 1.34 as that version has never been released to the public.

Does this same procedure also work for the GH2, if I want to find out what version it has?
I tried to figure out the combination on a GH2 but didn't work
