Hack for Mac

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the PTool Wined version 3.40d for Mac, as linked from the PTool Manual thread. The thread which is now labeled out of date I see.
I also see some of the more stable versions of the hack wont work in previous versions of PTool 3.40d.
I can download the latest version of PTool from the links provided, but I can't see a way of working with it via my PTool Wined for Mac.
The Mac version I downloaded works like a charm, although I never got to the final stage of loading it into the camera as I decided to do as much research as possible before making a final commitment.

So it looks like I need the very latest PTool and not being a PC user I'm now quite confused.
 
You can download Wine, Winebottler, and the latest version of Ptool, (all free) and run them on your mac. You have to install Wine first, then winebottler, then follow the directions for running a windows application. Honestly, it seems easier just to run ptool in a windows partition on your mac, but for some reason, I've just been using Wine, no problems so far... Always use the latest version of Ptool, don't use the old versions. This way, you can always download the latest version, then run it in wine, and toss the old version. Good luck!
 
Thanks I'll give it a go this afternoon.
The version of PTool for Mac as offered in the manual thread just worked like a dream, and I've seen some Mac users struggle with Winebottler.
But I haven't tried that myself. Off to download it now though.
