GH2 Hack above stock Cinema 24p mode and below the 140+mb modes...

Does there exist a hack that is somewhere in between these settings? Higher quality than the stock 24p movie mode (which is STELLAR out of the box) but not so insane that I can only fit 9 minutes of video on a 32gb card... Something in the 50/60mb range.

If not, cool. I have not hacked either of my GH2s but once I get out of my editing hole, I plan on doing so.

I've used cbrandin's 66mbit/s hack at AQ4. I can fit about 35 minutes on 16gb card, which is OK I think. It's been stable (occasionally it can have problems playing back in camera, but always works with a restart).

Agreed! I've been using Chris Brandin's 66mbit/sec. AQ2 settings with Vitaliy Kiselev's GH2 firmware hack for several weeks and I really like it.

Many of the most-tested settings are available on Vitaliy's forum:

Chris' 66mb setting doesn't span (doesn't record >4GB per clip), but that hasn't been an issue for the kind of shooting I typically do. There are other settings which allow spanning. For info about settings, see the descriptions & discussions on Vitaliy's site.

BTW, if you use Vitaliy's software and like it, please consider making a $ donation (see PayPal widget on his site.) Cheers.

What do you mean by that??
doesn't span means a clip max size is 4GB ???
But I think max size 4GB is the restriction of FAT32 format of the card.
Or maybe I totally thinking it in the wrong way?

In fact it means that in no-hacked camera the clip can be larger than 4GB but it will be "cut" into (several) 4GB chunks. However, when using higher-bitrate hacks, camera stops filming when the file reaches 4GB mark. Usually such shorter 4GB clip is preserved (isn't lost). When using lower-bitrate hacks, the camera usually produces several 4GB chunks for longer clips (like unhacked camera) but it is not 100% certain.
Hope it is more clear now?
