H265 files on FCPX

Hi!
I would like to go back to my Samsung NX1 camera. However, its files are H265 and I am having an hard time finding a way to convert them to H264 or ProRes. Any tips? Or is FCPX able to import and edit them as H265? In case I need an extra piece of software, I obviously prefer a free one...

FCP X will work with h.265 files, no problem.

Set your project for ProRes, and import your media with “create optimized files”. They’ll be converted to ProRes on import.
