Gyro stabilizer?

heck yeah. amazing...

It takes 5 minutes to get up to speed. It's not made for steadicam type shots, but for stabilization on vehicle or aircraft mounted shots. There is a minimum pan time of like 10-20 seconds or something like that. It makes for rock solid telephoto shot when hand held from a vehicle.

Now I have this funny vision of some camera operator getting thrown around by the power of the gyro. I think I'll make one to do just that and then set up a booth at one of these shows. Flip a switch and see people wearing the device get thrown over.....but smooth and level ;)

It is also noisy!

I turn the motors off during shots. That cuts the noise quite a bit. They spin for a while after shut off. I "charge" them in between shots. These things are amazing. I'm currently working on a rig for my stedicam using broken hard drives for gyros...it actually works...

There's a KS-6 gyro kit for sale on ebay right now... Buy it now for $1,999. Retails around $2,850, so it looks like a good deal.
