Gy-hm100 restore media

I formatted a 32GB Panasonic class 10 SDHC (RP-SDW32G) card in a GY-HM100 with firmware version (CAM1.09, ARM1.05, EEPROM052), which according to the JVC website when following directions for checking firmware said "Current Version: v107, Release Date: 2009-08-11 No upgrades are available. You have the latest version of the software." This card has been used successfully in other cameras so I thought if putting it in a camera with the apparent latest firmware and formatting it, I would be good. Well, I shot at 35mb/sec 1920 x 1080 at 30P for one hour and then for 10 minutes and then another 10 minutes and when I got home and put the SDHC card in my reader and attached to the computer I got a (Error code -36) message that data could not be "read" or "written". I put the card in the camera and it says "video management file is damaged, recovery is required". I try to recover and it says "Memory card error". I put it in an HM700 and it tries to restore and then says "invalid media". The user manual says, if this happens, "Replace the SDHC card with a new one." I have connected both the HM100 and HM700 containing the card to a computer via USB with no luck. The HM700 firmware is apparently current too: "Current Version: V0301, Release Date: 2009-09-18 No upgrades are available. You have the latest version of the software". Is there any way to recover this data? It looks like the card has 12 GB available, which sounds about right when looking at the amount of time I was "recording".

You have a card failure- welcome to the world of "cheap" SDHC media.
Try to put the card back into the same HM100 and see if you have a message: restore the media, then press yes. You might have shut off the power before the footage was written to the card, so it might be the issue here. But otherwise the card is simply bad and there is nothing you can do about it.

Yep. What he said. And it sucks. I had a class six I was using for photos go bad. Had to reformat it via my computer. The camera WILL NOT reformat it. So I simply use it as a jump drive.
