guys this is really nice

Am I old or does anyone else remember what Music Videos were in the early 90s??

What do you want me to say... nice lighting? nice coloring effects? nice compression?

MovieTube is a 35mm adapter. It just got a write up in Res Magazine, or American Cinematographer. I forget.

This is the best looking footage I've seen from them so far. Too bad they aren't much cheaper than PS Teknik. I really like the design of the MovieTube though. Seems really rugged.

I found this clip a couple days ago. I'm thinking seriously about shooting something with one. Abel Cine Tech has them for rent. Definitely too expensive to buy. But I have no problems renting something if its worth it. The quality looks amazing.

I thought the footage looked great and it took me a minute to figure out what Movietube is. Aside from the good technical aspects of the video, the content was pretty typical silliness. Seemed like someone's brother is into waterboards so got in the video with the pretty girl... ; )

For a $300 day rental for the adapter, plus the rental of glass (primes?), you would be much better off renting a film camera and getting what you really want. This solution seems way to expensive to be put in front of any small format camera!

i agree it's expensive, but i can probably get a local glass makeer to make me a ground glass...i just need to figure out the rest of the set up...thye say however that the ground glass is so fine that it doesn't need to spin and the set up or it's use doesn't end up in the image needing to be flipped.

And then there's the filmstock, processing and telecine...

I feel ya man. I love film. If I could I would shoot film for this project. But I just can't afford it. So I have to go with what I have.

I think the MovieTube uses a prism similar to what PS Teknik uses. I'm pretty sure that is why the image doesn't need to be flipped. It probably also explains the price, atleast a good chunk of it.

My reference to "glass" is the prime lenses you would want to use with this adapter and their daily rental rate. I could easily see this running $800 - $1000 per day and for that, you can shoot S16 (short ends, conservative shooting ratios, etc).

Hell, I would shoot with an SDX900 for around $700 per day long before I would put a $15,000 adapter in front of a DVX.

I am sure it is a wonderful product, but the price just doesn't make sense to me.
