gun test and driving test

...I dont mean to be an asshole but why does it seem I cant even look at a film on this forum without seeing atleast 1gun in it. what is the fascination.

Hmm for the gun test the sound could have been a bit more beefy, but the car test was pretty good. The shaking looked a bit too much though, and that lent a bit to it looking fake, but otherwise it looked good imo

The both are very very good!

The gun test has the metal sound of the bullet parts (dunno the english name) that sound a bit fake. But it could be due to the quicktime audio rendering that pulls the trebles.

The driving test is great as well! The sound is perfect, the setting, too. I find that the other cars lights passing by are too fast and flashy. Try to slower the light side pouring.

Near to 110 cum lauda!

Then you should take it upon yourself to crank out some teddy-bear stuff and counter balance it. :)

Both are impressive. Having the kick with the airsoft makes a huge difference. Muzzle flash looks good to me. I suppose people could argue that it is too bright/big for being in a well lit scene. The kick adds such a "real" element though, I think it looks great.

The car scene looks good as well. I think the rocking of the car might have been a touch too much. I wonder if it would look more real with the same amount of rocking, but with the cam attached to the car. It might be more subtle that way. The lights seemed to work, but since I read what you did... I was looking pretty closely. I think it might help a hair if the lights were brought up with a dimmer (while aimed at drivers face) and then pulled away quickly as the car passes.

Just adding my input. They clips look great. Nice work.

Did you composite stock footage for the muzzle flash?

I'm actually gonna second JZ's comment, the guns are a bit too much, sometimes it is all right though. It probably comes from childhood, I remember playing with toy guns and running around and it was a blast, but then I discovered how great girls were... I guess some guys are still hung up on playing with their guns...

Gun sound should echo more, especially in a room with hard surfaces like that. you may also want to animate the video levels a bit to coincide with the gun flash to see the effect on your character.

Well THAT really furthered the technical discussion, thanks. :nads:

The gun:
where's the recoil? Also, he clearly pulls the trigger (very weakly) at least three times, and you're out of synch on the actual firing. Muzzle flash looks good, but the blowback is overdone (and needs motion blur). Also, where's the recoil?

The car:
Unless he's driving on a dirt road, I don't buy it. Too many fast, tiny bumps. You should have slower, more steady movements. Also, that dashboard sure is kicking a lot of light into his face... so much so that passing headlights (going about 200mph, from the looks of it) barely register?

In short, a good start but not quite believable yet on either account, from a purely technical standpoint.

The blowback isn't a digital effect, the airsofts do that on there own.

The car stuff looked good lighting wise, but the car did bounce and shake to much. Lesen that and it should be acceptable.

Wait, I'm confused... What's are girls? Some type of new weapons? I haven't discovered them yet. j/j Boy, if you can get a chick WHO DIGS GUNS then you're set.
Guns are more symbolic I think. It's kind of the embodyment of mortality in an easy to use pistol!!!

I think its too bad people dont have enough writing skill or creativity to think up stories that dont involve gun fights or silly action sequences. Not that there arnt some great films involving guns blood gore and **** getting blown up....but I havent seen a good one on here yet. theres alot more out there to write about....sorry to interupt this thread and take it off topic....but it just annoys me.

Big talk, where is YOUR masterpiece of filmmaking?

no i can understand. I enjoy certain genres and then i like to tweak them. one should only write what they know and feel. theres a movie for all kinds of moods and forms of escape. i love annie hall bt i feel like making my own movie and that movie involves guns, sex, action, and cussing, but to limit my movie down to that would do the story injustice. I invite all to make the movies they have in them, and if they are good people will watch and respond to them. Us film makers are not in competition with each other, rather within our own selves, to make the movies we see the best we can. The winner is the audience with a lot more choices. A good movie is a good movie whether it has a gun or not.

A film I just dpd and edited....and to somextent worked on the script is on this page....ill top it in a second because we just got the full film up on the site rather then just the trailer....that wasnt really "big talk" thoguh....im just saying people should be able to be a bit more creative....saying i make film about more stuff then gunfights isnt exactly some claim of greatness.

greatness isnt claimed its demonstrated. I dont make movies to prove my creativity. My movies come from my creativity, as im sure your movies come from yours. i wish you a lot of luck on the movies you choose and look forward to seeing them.
