GTX 285 no longer crippled in CS5

I guess Adobe have realised we are no fools. Their latest update for Premiere Pro has taken away the limitation of only 3 layers with realtime effects. Who needs a Quadro now?

Maybe someone who has done the hack can confirm their "unsupported" card is uncrippled or even still works at all?

I´ve done the cuda-hack for my gtx275 and updated to 5.01. Now i can play up to 4 layers in real time - all with 1080p24-7d/550d footage and mpe-accelerated effects. As soon i added another one it became choppy but the tl still remained yellow (i gave up to 13 layers a shot)...

Thats good to hear it still works. I think stuttering playback is a result of harddrive speed. When you go over 4 layers, you'd want a raid setup or a SSD to keep smooth playback.

Installed a GTS250 and did the hack after the update, so I have no frame of reference for before. I also have Cineform NeoHD v5 installed. 5 tracks, 4 resized for PiP and given different opacities. Realtime playback, but at half resolution it looks like it skips frames (it's still better than CS4 ever was). Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 8gig DDR2 RAM, so it's an older machine. Both media and scratch drive is the same two drive software RAID 0 setup.

Like I said, it's still better much than CS4 ever was with something like this.
