I have narrowed down my tripod selection to the Vinten Pro6DC. I have heard alot of good stuff about it. Does anyone know if the tripod requires the on ground spreader? and if so, does it come with the on ground spreader? Has anyone had experience with this configuration? I will most likely be using it on everything from formal shoots in a studio, to shooting snowboard footage, mountain bike footage, and alot of other outdoors stuff.

Depending on the terrain, you might want to also get a mid-level spreader for it. I plan on getting one eventually for my 525MVB legs.

I can't find one for it, but I'd imagine that there's one available. Maybe someone with that setup can chime in with a better answer for you. btw it looks like the ground spreader comes with the setup.

Not required, but unless you are on terain that the leg spikes can dig into the ground, you are going to want the spreaders for saftey sake (either the camera legs spreading and falling, or the spikes digging into the nice new floor).
