I always thought a C stand was a pretty ample woman who stood by your side to make you look cooler than you actually are. Thanks for clearing this up.

No, that would be a DD Stand...

If you plan on buying such a truck you will need to have people who are already working professionally answering your phones or you can expect little work. Having a truck and getting work are two different things. you admit you know little about it so it might be best if you back the project and let those that know the business run it if you want a better guarantee of success. Owning a truck has a pretty big budget for operation with what we call expendables and just maintenance of what you have in it let alone you will always have people asking for stuff you don't have and then want to get. And the initial cost of such a truck (not including a HUGE insurance cost) is huge so you can expect quite some time before you break even.

Man you guys are mean.... But funny. I wish I had a companie buying me a grip truck. But really dude if you haven't found any answers and these guys are not helping you can e-mail me and ask some direct questions.

Of the huge investment "opportunities" of filmmaking, having a well stocked grip truck, with support staff to insure steady utilization of the equipment is one of the smartest uses of $$$, IMO. Of the production professionals I personally know, the gaffers with their own trucks are ther few individuals that have more work than they can handle. Grip trucks, as opposed to specific camera equipment, are needed on every production.
Of course, knowing how to use the equipment is an assumed requirement for those that own and operate a grip truck.

Learn the equipment!

Look at it this way, if you post on DVXuser asking for a Grip Truck Dictionary ie; definitions, you are either:

playing games

seriously naive

working for daddy

No one is coming here saying, "I have a basic understanding of lighting", "like to know more clearly what all of these things are and what their function is", and "Our company is seriously considering buying a truck".
