Very nice trailer. Definitely has that drive-in b-movie feel. However the old film look is a bit uneven between the shots. Some look dead on (most notably the outdoor footage) and then others don't look quite so authentic.

Cool stuff though. No doubt.

Thanks for the comments. I agree that the grading and degradation should have been a bit more even. We suffered a bit for a lack of editing time - the look is close in all scenes, but not quite perfect.

Working completely by Internet during the edit meant that we were looking at 640 and 320 comps - where it was difficult to discern grain and scratches. Because of scaling, the rendered effects tend to disappear completely at those lower resoltutions!

FutureDVXUser,

The Ultimate HVX Bundle includes the components indicated only - no HVX200 - sorry! We can compile any list of accessories you're looking for, just let me know what you need and we'll package it under the DVXUser discount.

Oh, my head went spinnin, I thought you got the HVX in with that lol... Hey, trailer looks nice... good luck at The Grindhouse

I didn't get a chance to thank Chris Hurn for going to bat for us on the music.

Cheers:beer:, maestro, on another great piece.

opening VO seems a bit heavy handed and over the top. Might not need it if you had some character dialogue splice in there.. Nice B-movie feel to it

Thanks, Justyn...

My concept was to start the trailer off with that VO-over-the-topness that was so prevalent in grindhouse cinema...only to have the main character "break the fourth wall" (at the 00:30 mark) and simultaneously shut up the narrator/and the cliches. When that gunshot is fired, I wanted a defined shift into something else completely (something a bit cooler, yet still uniquely 70's ala Charles Bronson)...or move from "B" movie territory to "B+" movie territory if you will:2vrolijk_08:

A contest that Robert Rodriquez is sponsoring involving trailers for fictional films that embody the look and feel of 70's grindhouse cinema (IE 70's b-movie/drive-in fodder.) Rob Zombie and Eli Roth also each made one of these "mock trailers".

oh cool, thnx, sorry didn't know.

But I'd pay to see Kimko kick some ass like that...he looks tough as nails in that thing.

That's just for the contest. No plans for a script at this time. We really didn't do Kimko justice - he's a professional fight choreographer and we could have spent entire days just setting up shots of him taking names.

Trailer looks good for what it is - grindhouse. I agree that the look can be evened out some. The V/O in the beginning sounds flat. Is that intentional and the way it should be?

How long did it take you guys to get this together?

It was about ten days from script to what you see there. That unfortunate narration is me.

:)

We would have benefitted from having a little sound-tech to EQ that out a bit. Still would have been a compromise, but I would have opted for reading the entire script into a coffee mug for the grindhouse effect.

I think this thing is pretty damn cool guys! I think the voice over is working for what you guys are going for. The only thing I didn't like was the film grain, it just didn't read that well for me. Overall though, I think it's pretty engaging. I would definately want to see the movie if there was one.

Great job.
