Everyone in Canada who sees Grindhouse gets to see 'Hobo With A Shotgun' considering it was made by a Canadian.
I enjoyed both movies, RRs was a lot of fun from start to finish. Funny, the annoying missing reel lived up to its name.
I thought Rob Zombie's trailer was the weakest one, DON'T was hilarious.
I really loved 'Death Proof'. The dialogue, the action, it took a while for everything to get ramped up but it was well worth it, what else would you expect from QT??
This is just my opinion but does anyone else thing QT was paying an homage to himself? Like he's telling any aspiring filmmaker, "if you want to pay a tribute to me, you better do it better than this?".... Let me explain.. SPOILERS below..

-When Jungle Julia walks out of the bar, she's on her cell phone.. the song is playing on the juke box.. like we're supposed to fall in love with her. Just like when Jackie Brown walks out of jail.. it had the similar feel to it.

-When the second set of girls are at the diner, the camera is similar to the opening of Reservoir Dogs.. I know its different because this time he did it all in one take, but you get the idea....

-The ending when all three girls kick the shi* out of Stunt Man Mike, its the similar shot to Kill Bill when all members of the Viper Squad take turns kicking the shi* out of the Bride.

-Revenge theme.. I think Jules and Vincent are Zoe Bell and sorry but can't remember the other actress name..

-This is why I think QT just did an homage to himself..

Cheers,
Strauss

yes becuase he is iconic ... Look at the films he loves and what genre he is in this film was made for him. You missed misrolu on the the juke box also when scanning threw the songs (pulp fiction theme) His auteur stamp is on ever inch of that film. it was like easter eggs and fun to see it.

I just want to see "Thanksgiving" as a feature

I agree, this was the greatest spoof trailer ever, I loved it. Rob Zombie did this right?

So I finally saw it over the weekend, Planet Terror was great, I loved Death Proof until the very end, the ending killed it for me.. then I thought, maybe the B movies always ended this way, so that's why he ended it that way.. but both were entertaining, but RR wins the battle IMO.

I have a question, you know that One Take in the Dinner with the girls, how in the hell did he pull that off.. It was Pure Genius, that alone made me love Death Proof.. They must of practiced that one scene 100 of times before camera roled. Have there been any other films with this long of a Take, it was pure genius...

And how the camera always stayed on who ever was talking, I would love to do something like this, that One Take Dinner scene did it for me. GENIUS.

but overall 3 out of 4 stars for Grindhouse.

Eli Roth did. Rob Zombie did Werewolf Women of the SS, which is my favorite, along with "Don't".

I was really looking forward to Grindhouse and I finally saw it. What a huge disappointment. Rodriguez's part was slow starting, but ended up being fairly entertaining. Except for the car chase, Tarantino's film was one of the most boring, self indulgent pieces of s**t I've ever scene. He had just endless scenes of dialogue that went nowhere, led to nothing. I used to be a Tarantino fan, but now I'm beginning to see him as the overrated one-trick pony he is.

If Grindhouse was cut down to 90 minutes, then it would probably be pretty good, but at 3 hours and 12 minutes, it's terrible. I'm so glad that it's loosing money.

The trailers were pretty great though...

Grindhouse is a classic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the greatest films ever made. It's totally ahead of its time, which is ironic considering it's an homage to the B movies of yesteryear.

You should really pay more attention to the dialogue if you felt it went nowhere and led to nothing. The dialogue was insight into the two different groups of women. This insight would dictate their fate within the movie.

More basic:

First group of chicks = FUC#*D

Second group of chicks = Stuntman Mike FUC#*D

As mentioned many times, Tarantino's film was very much like a 'grindhouse' film. While all the budget would have been used on the cars, because YES, they would have been wrecked (Stuntman Mike told us so). With little to no money left, the rest of the movie would need to be filled with dialogue.

I just have one thing to say:

"If you are thinking of going into this house...don't. If you are thinking of opening this door...don't....If you are thinking of checking out the basement...don't...Don't look behind...Don't look under...Don't look up...Don't look anywhere...Don't scream for help..Don't even breathe....Don't....Don't....Don't.....Don't....Don't....Don't....Don't....Don't....Don't....If you are thinking of seeing this movie alone....don't...... (Different voice) Don't"

I effin loved GRINDHOUSE

Everything they said it would be. Cannot believe it flopped. It was original despite the homage and tribute

I found it RR's best film to date in terms if cinematic language. It feels more confident than anything he has done yet and Quentins is a joy; pure Tarantino and masterful action sequences in the car chase

Loved it !

Ha ha

I was just watching DProof and can anyone tell me the Lucas/Spielberg connection when Stuntman Mike crashes into the 4 chicks ?

i just got death proof, i had seen it before but i gotta tell you i liked it a lot better the second time around. not a huge TARANTINO fan thought, i like his originality but i usually think his characters talk way too much. only complaint about DEATH PROOF is that the chick with the really curly hair talks like a damn man, it came off a bit fake to me. nigga this nigga that, motherf this motherf that, suck my d. it's too over the top, PLANET TERROR IS AWESOME though. no complaints, everything is over the top there. much love to GRINDHOUSE, get the book if you liked the movie it's an awesome insight to the way they made em, especially PLANET TERROR.

I accepted her character as she was; Jungle Julia. She has the dynamic radio personality and is part show as the local celebrity

One thing is for sure; I'll take these chicks any day over the usual 'Hollywood' slasher acresses that show up

And I effin loved this shot

what did you guys think about the italian chick in the middle? i thought she was kinda hot. i liked sydney portier on the left also. these two were definately the eye candy in the movie.

i don't know what happened to Rosario Dawson this time around.

based on what people were saying i was expecting death proof to be a lot worse. minus all the pointless talking it was hot. so if planet terror is even better than this i can't wait to see that.
