Brandon, I am pretty sure you will love what RR did, seems like he cant do wrong in your eyes and in Planet Terror he did everything right, enjoy!

i dunno... it might be the worst film to him jpeck... its the opposite of what rr has done.... lol.

Naw... I'm going into watching the film so see some schlock.... I am not looking for a good movie... just a fun movie.

Isnt that the way you should go into all RR movies?
HAHA YEP!

Exactly why they're so enjoyable for me... they're FUN movies... not GREAT FILMS... but the most entertaining movies I've ever seen.

whoa crap

looks like this baby could end up getting pulled fast.

better catch it while you can.

I for one, would go back to see both films seperately if additional footage was added, but, the double feature was part of its charm. Don't know if it would be as great. It would no longer be an experience. :(

I agree. I thought it was a blast watching the movies together with the fake trailers and I think separating them would be a bad move. Even though I really liked both of them, I'm not sure if I would liked them as much watching them separately and honestly I don't know if they would stand on their own as well.

If Death Proof was released separate then it is like they are considering it to be of the caliber of Kill Bill or a Jackie Brown... but it isn't... it was good but not as good as one of his past movies but it works packed together as this three hour thrill ride (which by the way didn't feel like three hours at all) and it's just the same with Planet Terror.

In any regard, it was a blast watching these movies and I think I'm gonna have to go back again for another three hours of fun.

I don't know what people expected going into this. It wasn't mismarketed in any way. I got what was promised, and I'm here typing up my review with a big fu*&% sh!t eating grin on my face. I for one am a satisfied customer.
couldn't agree more, to the people flaming this cinematic adventure, go fu ck yourself. lol an added bonus for the Canadians, was hobo with a shotgun, a faux trailer by some dude out of nova scotia that didnt make the movie, but was aired in the middle of the previews before grindhouse started.

(Jason Eisener, Rob Cotterill, and John Davies)

I honestly don't know how u can flame the movies, like pure cinematic genius. If you don't get tarantinos deathproof, you fail at life.

at least respect the fact that all the stunts were performed and fimled, no cgi. Zoe is a godess.

I spent the whole 191 minutes laughing like a schoolgirl.

To flame its opening numbers, remeber it was released on good friday, not the family experience most were looking for. Oh and both of them are loaded, they made this production as a homage/freebie for their fans, and dude, they honestly should be charging you for two movies.

Also, did any one else catch the fact that both plots were tied together with the female doctor, and her father?

ps. the second i got out of the theatre me n my buddy took off our belts, and paid homage by performing the captains mast, in retrospect, i wish he was driving.

Well I personally think they owe us to keep them together. Considering they made us pay twice to see one movie (Kill Bill), I don't see why we shouldn't pay once to see two movies.

Death Proof's dialogue was too long and Boooorrriing. We get it already -- move on! Imagine trying to sell a spec script with that kind of dialogue. They'd laugh you out of the meeting. Yes, even the almighty QT can fu ck up. The movie was made from the FIRST DRAFT of the screenplay -- and it shows. He could have made a better movie with more time. Otherwise the movie is great! Overall the experience was great. With 20 minutes of dialogue cut out and replaced with 20 minutes of action (sex and violence), it would have been the best movie of the year -- easy. Should have kept it NC-17 like a true grindhouse movie. Hollywood pussies.

Grindhouse was a ton of fun. I wish I had seen it at a drive-in theatre. Death Proof is the one that's stuck with me -- the practical stunts were fantastic.

just saw it yesterday and I was blown away... I enjoyed the flicks so much. It is playing at the drive-in here in Santa Cruz and I think I'll go see it there later this week.

I saw Grindhouse twice this weekend. Loved it! They were both hella-fun to watch. I must say that Death Proof is the one I think about the most afterwards though. The dialogue was a bit off. A pale imitation of much better dialogue from his other films.

The end of Death Proof however was the most satisfying I've seen in long while though. Thats the only word I can think of for it. At both viewings, everyone cheered and applauded.

And Zoe Bell was effin adorable... :)

I find it real amusing that this film is being called a bomb because it made 12 million instead of 20 million opening weekend. This film will make its cash back several times over. It was a mistake to open it on Easter though...

lol man, the long ass dialogue that seemed pointless, was intentional, the old action movies he paid homage to usually had a tight budget, most of which was blown on stunts(cars and gasbombs), which left about an hours worth of time that needed to be filled, hence the titties and the 3 minute shot of stuntman mike eating nachos.

Just because you have to have long ass stretches of dialogue does NOT mean it has to be boring dialogue. Look at The Breakfast Club, Goodwill Hunting, Glenn Gary Glenn Ross, Pulp Fiction, Slacker, Before sunrise -- even Clerks. These movies relied on dialogue, but the dialogue was great. It had CONTENT. This dialogue was inane. He can do much, much better. It's ok to pay homage to the B movies of yester-year, but not at the expense of making an entertaining movie. He could have revised the dialogue and made it better. Hell, I could have made it a whole hell of a lot better. I love QT more than any other writer-director out there (except for maybe Paul Thomas Anderson), but on this movie he fell off. He admitted that he normally takes a year to a year and a half to write a script and this one he did in four months. Most people who have seen the movie agree that if about 25 minutes of dialogue were cut, it would be a much better film.
