Greyish and Dark Film Look

Using the AG-DVX100BE (European 25p model) I'd like to get a moody, greyish, darks blend together, film look.

1. What scene file settings should I use?
2. Can I go as low as Master Pedestal -15?
3. How to get a greyish look?

What do you mean by greyish? Low-contrast? Or low saturation? Or both?

Low-contrast: Use HIGH GAMMA with LOW KNEE, or use CINE_D

Low-saturation: Use CHROMA LEVEL -7 with MATRIX NORM

1. What scene file settings should I use?

Any progressive scene file.

2. Can I go as low as Master Pedestal -15?

If you want a high-contrast look.

3. How to get a greyish look?

See above. Maybe underexpose a bit.

If you want the darks to all blend together, I'd think you'd want to keep the master ped higher -- it will create more milky blacks as opposed to high contrast. Unless you want all your darks to be black, but then it wouldn't look quite as "grey".

worry about the color correction when u edit. as long as u get the right white balance and exposure when u shot youll be able to change anything in post.

im not sure if its the right way to go, but thats how i do it.

thanks a lot! I will do colours in post. One more question: what is best: set the blacks in camera (using the master pedestal) or do it in post too?
