Is there anybody that can shed some light on sites like "camerakings.com" etc that sell "import" cameras. I am wanting to know what the difference between USA or Canadian models VS these cameras that are from Overseas. All that I have been told is that the warranty is different, is that true?
 
Nothing illegal about it, but since these were units originally intended for sale outside of North America, there are no US or Canadian warranties, so it's kind of buy at your own risk.

That said, there are other issues with some of these sites. Find a site and do a Google search on it, you'll often find that they try and sell you overpriced accessories, and if you say no, the camera is suddenly out of stock and you may never get it. Or, I've heard of a few where you had to buy a lens for the camera to work... even though it had a fixed lens.

This happened to my buddy, lucky the order was canceled.

Its said many times, you get what you pay for. Peace of mind and knowing I will make money from this camera for the next 3 years is well worth the difference for me.
